Hi Phil,
Thanks for this, but it still doesn't work - when you install an upgrade your settings from the previous version remain, but I didn't assume this and went into options to check and found that the checkbox was already checked. I changed the shortcut to a different combination but it still would not work, though the shortcut for answering a call, alt page up, works fine. I have been using JFW 7.0 with the latest scripts, but I'll try using a different version of JFW without any scripts and see if it makes any difference.

Hi Pete,

I'm not yet using the latest version of Skype but, if it works the same as
the previous version, you probably don't have the shortcut keys enabled.
You can enable them as follows:

When in Skype press alt+t for the tools menu;

Press p for options;

Press the end key to go to the last item in the tree;

Press tab and you should hear Jaws say "enable keyboard shortcuts" and
whether the box is checked or not;

Ensure that the box is checked changing the state with the space bar;

Tab to the save button and press enter.

This should do the trick.

If you don't hear Jaws say "enable keyboard shortcuts", you may have to
navigate around the tree a bit to find the relevant dialogue.

I've just downloaded the latest version of Skype and everything seems to
work ok apart from ending a call, neither escape nor alt page down do
anything, I have to press alt C for the call menu, then H for hang up and
press enter, the shortcuts don't have any effect. I am using JFW 7.0 with
the latest scripts from Doug Lee's site.

you are running the most current version of skype. Theccurrent version is
3.5 (as opposed to previous 3.2 3.1 3.0, 2.5, etc.) the last three or four 
digits in your version

3.5.0.214 indicate the build of the software, which  indicates a minor
upgrade or patch since the original release of version 3.5. I have been
running skype 3.5 thru it's public beta cycle. The earliest build of skype 
3.5 that I have here is 3.5.0.107, which was the first public beta that
was released on 06-13-07. Your skype 3.5.0.214 is the latest build and btw no longer a beta but the first hotfix to the release version of skype 3.5. 
The first official and stable release version of skype 3.5 came out on
August 7.
jaws likewise often goes thru minor updates and bugfix patch releases that 
are indicated by a build number to a major release version. I have not
kept up with whether or not there were pplublic betas available for jaws
8.0 other than the few betas for windows vista recently. However, I
believe jaws came out with an initial release of jaws 8.0 last fall as a
jaws 8.0.0.422 and they ar enow up to jaws 8.0.2.173 or something like
that, which indicates very roughly 1500 build numbers beetween jaws 8.0's
initial public rlease and the current available build. <g>
Now this was the long-winded way of saying you have the current version of 
skype and are good to go. <g>

for your jaws, you might want to go to fs's website and download jaws
4.5.1.119, which is a free upgrade for you, and then the minor update
patch that turns jaws 4.5.1 into jaws 4.5.1.133, a minor upgrade patch
with big impact since it fixes a memory leak in jaws 4.5 that had jaws go
sluggish on many systems after a while.

You mentioned about Skype 53.5 being the current version.  I'm
running 3.5.0.214  which I downloaded as a Beta.  I believe 3.5
is the current production version.

Did you mistype the version number or am I way behind?
