George,
At first my wife said a message came up "no imput to monitor". So we naturally
check cables and all seemed correctly connected. I don't think we are getting
that message on the monitor now but she did say it was showing a light
indicating it had power... but will get her to recheck. It was the "problem
reports & solutions", in control panel where I read the blue screen error
caused by device or driver" (not finding that function very Jaws friendly). On
checking for solutions still saying "researching".

Not necessarily, Tiddy. Quite often, if systems don't see the monitor, or
there is a display fault of some kind, they either halt with an error, or they
"blue screen", before the boot up completes. Or I've even seen them go into
Safe Mode. In any of these circumstances JAWS would not have been able to
load, and even the normal sound drivers may not have loaded. One really need
to know first if the monitor is powering up and displaying the pre-windows
material which you neither see not hear.

George, if it's the monitor, he'd at least be getting the sound.
When my hard drive failed recently all I got was the fan starting, no sound,
not even the little beep as things start up. Heaven forbid that that's the
problem, but in my case, turning the tower upside down and a bit of bashing
produced a bit of life, but not for long.

Mark, is the screen actually totally dead? That is to say when you start
your PC up there is not even a flicker of activity on the screen? If it is
dead, could it be as simple as a blown fuse in the mains plug, or even a loose
mains cable?
Are you able to get someone to determine if there is any kind of power light
coming on? If power is there, then is the data cable between the monitor an PC
firmly connected at both ends?
And more drastic, I have seen cases where the video card itself has become
dislodged inside the PC for one reason or another.
George.

George, afraid sighted assistance will be of little help with no screen
output, the thing is just blank... If I can workout what device driver is
corrupted any thought as to how to repair it or where I might find a
replacement to install?
And Thanks Kevin for the "Ccleaner", info , will have a look at that.
Mark.
