Hi Hazel and welcome to the list.
your first stop should be,
The JAWS for Windows Basic Training Download page
http://www.freedomscientific.com/fs_products/training_basic.asp
if you've bought your copy of Jaws of a retailer it should arrive with these
on cd, if not you can easily download the mp3s from this site.
You may not need to go through them entirely but it's strongly recommended
to give them a cursary glance over.
Some key strokes straight off you may find helpful are,
insert numrow 1, (above the letter q).
This turns on Jaw's keyboard training mode. you can press keys to your
hearts content to hear what they do, try combinations like insert t, insert
w, and insert h and Jaws will tell you what these do.
This key command is a toggle so pressing insert 1 again will take you back
out of keyboard mode.
it is a bit of a transition from Supernova so dont' expect to learn all the
keystrokes over night but I'm sure you'll have no problems.
Insert h will give you a list of keystrokes within the application your
using.
insert w will give you a list of general windows keystrokes.
And one of the most important keystrokes, insert t will read to you the
title of the window your currently focused on.
Don't hesitate to ask any question no matter how silly it seems. We all
started at the same point.

Subject: [jaws-uk] Jaws tutorials?
Hi there!
I am relatively new to the list and hope to get jaws installed on my
computer this week!
I have been using Super nova for the last year or so and I understand that I
will need a bit of help to switch over!
Is there some tutorials that can help with the Jaws shortcut keys and the
functions of the numeric key pad with out going through the Microsoft
shortcut keys?
Some basic help and advice would be great. As all this technology is all
very new to me!
Best wishes,
Hazel.
