Hi Jim,

Using jfw 9 Pro latest build, XP Pro, I updated to the new AVG 8 free
edition and had a few problems. After it uninstalled 7.5 I too got all
those Microsoft error messages every time I tried to open the user
interface from the desktop icon.

I decided to take it out altogether from the add/remove list and do a
clean new install. This has almost stopped the error messages... I still
get an occasional one when I'm navigating around the interface, looking
at all the new options etc.

After the new install, rather than hitting the icon on the desktop, I
accessed it all via the sys tray, and using a lot of jaws cursor mode, I
managed to suss out how to get into all the schedules and e mail
scanning options. It reminds me a bit of what Ad-aware was like to
navigate but it's ok once you work it out.

So, I got it all set up eventually, but I'd be interested to hear AVG's
techie response. Please let me know how you get on.

Also, those folks talking about attachments in e mail that ain't there,
well this is often AVG'S way of certifying scanned messages, they stick
a wee attachment against them. I'm almost sure you can remove these via
the e mail scanning settings in AVG, whilst incoming mail will still be
scanned for potential threats.

Hth, Robin.

Deon,

I'm using JAWS 8 and have recently upgraded to AVG 8 and am having
problems
as follows.

Each time I try to go into the AVG User Interface my computer re-boots.
Also I'm getting numerous "Unknown error" messages from AVG and requests
to
send error reports.

However, I've contacted AVG Technical Support and they sent me a
diagnostic
file and I returned it yesterday along with a list of the error messages
and
I'm now awaiting their comments.
