In Outlook, it is Outlook 2002/2003 but this is what it says in Word:
Word for Windows settings are loaded. The application currently loaded is
word.exe

Hi, what scripts are loaded? do insert Q to find out. If it's word 2007
ones, then that could be your trouble.
Cheers

Hi Graham
Start up task pane was not checked, but highlight was. I unchecked it
but
it made no difference.
The problem is the same with new documents or saved documents.
When trying to navigate this line, for instance:
Health, safety and security
using control plus right arrow from the left margin, it just says "Health
comma" . If I keep pressing control right arrow, it says "Health comma,
space, health comma, space..." and that's all it will read.
Insert plus down arrow doesn't say a thing.
Thanks
Barry

Hi Barry. the only other place I can think of to look is the view tab.
Go
to tools menu, options and view tab.
I cannot see what would be causing your problem though other than perhaps
there is an option called something like task pane on startup which you
need
to uncheck.
Can you read documents that are already created or does this also not
work?
Can you not read anything you have typed when you use the cursor keys?

graham

if it says pause then, perhaps not surprisingly, it is the pause key you
are
pressing rather than the scroll lock key. Generally the Print screen,
scroll lock and pause keys are arranged in a group of 3 above the block
of
6
but, as you have found, some keyboards differ in this respect.
In terms of solving your problem, the only other thing that comes to mind
is
try going to the view menu in Word and then pressing enter on the
ToolBars
option.
Formatting and Standard should be checked. Also, in the view menu, see
if
Task Pane is checked. if it is, press enter to uncheck it.
Sometimes, having extra toolbars showing can hide text but I don't see
why
tab is reporting only 0 inches when you press it. Still, try looking at
these options and see if they help.

Graham

On the keyboard I'm using, a plug in keyboard, the scroll lock is not
above
the home key as it is on my PC keyboard, it is, so I'm told, at the top
right of the keyboard. However, when I press it it says 'pause' but it
has
no effect on reading the Word doc.

Hi all
Someone has messed with my laptop and now I can't navigate

inches even though
I press it a few times. The navigation keys work fine in
Outlook. Does
anyone know what has happened?
Thanks
