MessageHi Shirley Glad you still like your Toshiba if I remember it has to take Jaws Professional? I have a vague memory of your telling George that you did not really find it did much more than Jaws standard? Tell me if my memory is wrong, some Toshibas due to having I think a fancy Media centre needed a more superior Jaws? Even if the Toshie was really not Xp Professional. Regarding keyboard I use a full ordinary keyboard like on my Desktop. However some things are not possible unless you use the Laptop, example un-muting the Sound on laptop nothing worked unless I experimented with the Function keys on laptop even now I cannot explain how I raised it from Mute but it was on left side of laptop bottom and a Top Function key plus escape,I am not sure if I could do it again Additionally I have a 17 keypad plug-in from lonova that means I can use Kurzweil, if that is your OCR a Toshie extra 17 key plug in will be only ok if you are for example doing a lot of accounts,it has to be just right for your K11 ----- Original Message ----- From: shirley clow To: jaws-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Sunday, April 06, 2008 10:13 PM Subject: [jaws-uk] Re: JAWS UK - Replacement laptop Hello Elspeth, I have had a Toshiba Laptop for about a year now. When looking for it, I was wanting one with a standard desktop keyboard. At the time I could only find an HP with a Desktop Keyboard. I liked that machine very much, but it was a bit too big!... Now to your question, I am sure you can use that keyboard you have with the JAWS desktop setting. When I am using my laptop at home, I have it on a docking station and have a separate standard keyboard. On that principal I am sure you don't need the laptop setting. Good luck, Shirley. ----- Original Message ----- From: elspeth pearce To: jaws-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Saturday, April 05, 2008 9:02 PM Subject: [jaws-uk] JAWS UK - Replacement laptop I am thinking of buying a Toshiba Satellite P200-1G8 . The operating system is Windows Vista Ultimate, and I understand that I will have to upgrade to Jaws Professional otherwise it will not run. This laptop will primarily be used for my music collection and to watch DVD's. The other feature it has is a separate number pad. I wondered whether this would mean I could use JAWS in desktop mode, or whether I would have to use laptop mode. If anyone out there has had experience of such a laptop or has any other advice for me it would be much appreciated ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- No virus found in this incoming message.
