It sounds as if you have installed the modern skins for your winamp.
you need to set winamp to use the classic skin either by going into the preferences or by running the installer again and selecting the appropriate option.
you may also want to uncheck the Winamp agent while you are at it though I don't think this would be causing the problems you are having. 

There is a way to get ogg vorbis to play in windows Media player if desired.
