[jaws-uk] Re: JAWS 8.0.2173 Update

MessageToday I hit a problem when trying to activate version 8.2107 on my new 
laptop running Vista.  After ringing tech support, they decided to send me my 
activation via e mail so I can transfer it to the laptop using a pen drive.  
Anyway, after running the "exe" file, I was informed by Jaws that my 
authorisation was out of date and to use this version I need to upgrade or 
purchase an SMA agreement.  Now you make your own minds up what this means, but 
my thinking is that even though this is not promoted as an upgrade, it really 
is if you have Vista!  I have this version running fine on my XP home desk top 
machine...I've paid for it, but my SMA has run out at this version (8.0), so 
even though I can get these free versions on XP...I can't even register it on 
Vista!  I hope to hear back from tech support tomorrow to confirm this, but if 
it's true...it really is a cheap shot to say the least!  These versions support 
Vista, so why am I asked to pay for something I've already paid for?  Anyone 
have any insight into this?  Cheers Steve.

  It is a free update, I have just downloaded it but have no idea what changes 
have been made, chances are that most of them involve Vista but, like most of 
us, I am still on XP, however you can download it anyway, they can't make you 
pay for it in arrears ... yet.

    hello to all on this list. I was wondering if someone could help me out in 
answering this question for me.  I understand that JAWS 8.0.2173 is a new 
update.  I am wondering if this is a free update because when I check the JAWS 
head quarters the help menu in JAWS I can't seem to find any information on 
what has been updated and the only link that I noticed for 8.0.2173 is where it 
says full version of JAWS and then it tells you the file size.  So I was 
wondering if this is a free update or is this a SMA upgrade.  I don't want to 
download it from check for updates until I know for sure that it is free and I 
was wondering if someone could tell me where I could find some notes or a 
document about what has been fixed or new in this release.
