Adrian,
From my experience, they'd be interested in your thoughts on this. I
quite agree, I almost didn't go for it, being dubious about the Yahoo email,
but I'd guess they'd welcome any feedback.
Cheers,
Tink.

Shame they don't include more information about their background in the
Email, if it hadn't been for your message of support I wouldn't, based
on a yahoo Email address alone have bothered to follow this up. As it
happens it seems to be a Queens University, Belfast project so is
probably worthy enough.

All,
Having volunteered a little of my time to talk to these guys, I can
vouchsafe that they are a friendly bunch who clearly want to make a
difference to the way people interact with technology.
They make no ridiculous claims, only state that they want to explore
the
ways in which blind people use their computers and access the Internet.
I'd
recommend that anyone give them a call/drop them an email and help out
if
they can.
The more of us who get in touch with this project, the greater their
understanding and appreciation of adaptive technologies and the people
who
use them. The better their knowledge, the better placed they'll be to
develop something truly remarkable.
Regards,
Tink.

visually-impaired
individuals - UK & Irish-based volunteers sought
Dear All,
Apologies if this email is off-topic but please read on below to find
out
about a project to improve Internet access for the blind and
visually-impaired community.
-------------
Our project aims to improve Internet access for the blind and
visually-impaired community by using senses other than vision to
convey
information. In particular, sound and touch will be used for
exploring
web pages. By using these new approaches, blind and visually-impaired
users will have enhanced access to the Internet.
We are currently looking for visually-impaired (blind or
partially-sighted) volunteers in the UK and the Republic of Ireland to
participate in a telephone-based interview, the purpose of which is to
assess how each person uses the Internet and to determine its
associated
difficulties. We are looking at all age groups and levels of computer
experience (beginner to expert), so if you are interested, please
contact
web4blind@xxxxxxxxx (web4blind-at-yahoo-dot-com) and we can arrange a
time
that suits you.
