That sounds like it is to do with Office 2002 or 2003 where there is a 
speech recognition facility that can be installed.  You can use the 
installer for Office to remove this component from the installation.

ON MY HOME PC I AM GETTING THE FOLLOWING ITEM APPEARING ON MY WINDOWS LIST:

HOWEVER, IF I HIT ENTER ON THIS I AM SIMPLY TAKEN ONTO THE DESKTOP AND I
CANNOT FIND A WAY TO CLOSE IT OR REMOVE IT. WHEN USING OTHER APPLICATIONS
AND USING THE MENUS I KEEP GETTING A  RESPONSE SAYING SUBMENU AND NOTHING
ELSE.COULD ANYONE GIVE ME ANY CLUES AS TO HOW I CAN GET RID OF THIS PLEASE.
