Bear in mind that a "file" is not just something which stores data, it can also be a program, or all manner of data. Disk drives themselves are generally designed to work hard, hence why many have a fairly lengthy warranty period. If you could help me it would be most grateful also. P.s. my disk drive is fine, but with seeing all the posts I am just making sure that by defragging I am not putting my disk drive at risk. However George maybe has the time can you explain the following. I did do a Defrag the evening before before, I did make sure it had finished, I did reboot. However Tony Berry said this procedure of Defragging is very high risk, now I am sure others do a Defrag on a regular basis and would not dream it was so risky, can you explain why it is so risky if not George then another part. I shall not feel confident now to do it ever again. as it may have contributed to the disc becoming NApoo, and if the last word is not in the dictionary I do not want to know that=3D20 ----- Original Message -----=3D20 From: dorothy@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx=3D20 To: user@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx=3D20 Cc: the gamages=3D20 Sent: Wednesday, March 22, 2006 10:53 PM Subject: The hard disk failure The hard disk failure will cause the loss of all files, including the regi stry, all mail and documents. ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=3D3Dunsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=3D3Dfaq] ** or send a message, to=3D20 ** jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=3Dunsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=3Dfaq] ** or send a message, to ** jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=3Dunsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=3Dfaq] ** or send a message, to ** jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq
