[jaws-uk] Re: Fw: Re: Service Pack 3

win xp sp3was officially released on April 29th. I downloaded and installed the complete package and it works fine without any gliches. I have not really noticed much of a difference at all except that xp now does register as xp sp3 on my box.

the earliest version of jaws i have installed on my system is 4.51 and this works fine under sp3 still too as does nvda.

Cheers,

Doris

Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) has not been officially
released as yet, although what is called Release Candidate 2
can technically be downloaded from the Microsoft web site.

However, I would strongly advise against installing this
version, and recommend waiting for 2, if not 3, things:

1) It is officially released via Windows Update.
2) Screen Reader developers have officially approved it.
3) You have sighted help to hand - possible not necessary,
but who knows what might happen, so play safe.

It is suggested that SP3 will improve performance. It is
also supposed to fix a number of bugs.

George.

Can anyone remind me when this is due out? Additionally if
you were buying
a new Pc would it be better to wait until this SP3 is out?
Would all new
computers have it on before being sold? Do those of us
using Windows XP
whether Home or professional need it?

I do recall tristram saying something about SP3 but
George saying it
would not be released for some time. Now it is March has any
date been
mentioned?

Thanks Dorothy
