Yes, Greg was shocked to learn that they had been rated weak again. The
Quality Care Commission has pointed out that these targets relate to April
2008, which is only two months after the Trust's new management was
appointed, and that improvements have been made since then.
But I think it's Greg's view that this can't go on and if things don't
improve significantly this year, there should be a change in management.

Just to update you I have lodged my complaint with Health Ombudsman's
Office and Tim Goss of Icas is putting it all together for me, I do think
if recommendations are made by an external Body like the health
ombudsman's office things may improve as long as I can recall my notes
have vanished and photographs. I am also glad if nothing else Moorfields
understand the DDA act and are using adept transcription services so other
patients can ask and not be told "we do not have anything to record
with,that is perhaps the best I can say I hope Greg is well and I know he

Hallo Claire if they have lost the ones before the Yag lazer and cataract
damage, they were the ones I have been asking for of course I do not
think mr Dowler will have forgotten being on radio 4 at all it no doubt
generated a good few letters to him and he would have a transcription of
the programme he either did not get it at all, like my hand delivered
letter taken on April this year for Mr Andrews or more likely did not
want to comment upon another Hospitals mistakes namely the maidstone
Trust. I hope your reader knows I really do appreciate his efforts and
even more I do hope moorfields will use your services so others can have
some independence and privacy as for any surgical decision I make I will

As far as I can tell there are no photos from 1990 in your file but can
confirm that you now have copies of everyting that is on the file. I
appreciate that some of these copies may be difficult to decipher and
that is why I suggested you come in to look at the originals.
I do not know whether Mr Dowler received your letter but there is
certainly no response on the file. After five years I suspect he may not
remember himself.

several from my Gp Dr P J Ball and finally in 1996 John Bell
ophthalmologist, I still have no idea what you have as mentioned if
Professor Bird said all my File had gone missing except for a few
fragments and I was given a new File what actually is there? also re my
letter to Jonathan Dowler which is in the paperwork sent April 2004 did

this is just to let you know the packet of papers and one Tape which is
a recording of the notes is now in my hands and I will update you later
about anything I cannot understand, I do not have any person here to
help me make sense of them however I can say the notes were photocopies
and a lot of print did not come out and some was in pencil and on some
sheets several different people have written if the photocopies are not
readable then of course no reader can make them so. I get the over all
impression however because I have a good memory, and I see my Gp who is
now retired Peter J Ball of Kingswood Surgery wrote a good many times
asking about photographs I had taken in 1990, it took until about 1996
for an answer and them only because I told John Bell his Initials Jab
are Mr Bell consultant at Pembury Hospital and before Kent and Sussex Mr
bell wished me to attend a special Meeting where a large number of
Consultants from around the county and further were wanting people with
Interesting Case history to spend some hours being examined, I was on
that occasion only prepared to go through it all again,on condition Mr
bell contacted Professor Bird and ask him about my missing case notes,
I then got a letter from Prof Bird with profuse apologies, and I could
guess as I have typed in one letter to him that John Bell had nudged
Alan, and of course John Bell also said Alan Bird would be at the
conference and I then agreed. well Prof Bird was not there and after I
had been examined by a fair number of Ophthalmologists I had enough and
asked for a taxi home. I wonder if you can tell me do you have any
photos taken in 1990? Prof Bird took me by hand to see the photographer
I think it was November 17th but you will see. additionally do you have
on file my visit to see Donald Macloud? this was perhaps in 1985 in
summer I was referred by Mr Salmon of Kent and Sussex, mr Salmon was the
Consultant who when I complained of visual problems increasing said"Well
dear your retinas are rotting" and when I asked but what about laser
treatment said"What do you think Lasers are magic wands" Mr salmon was
not meaning to be brutal it was his manner, I knew his Secretary who
lived at that time on this hill, she said"I fear he has no idea he
upsets people the other day a poor man collapsed in front of him" they
had to give him first aid. I told her never mind he is nicknamed "the
Big fish, she knew that. it was possibly not known to Mr salmon. I am
particularly interested in a letter I wrote to your mr dowler after
hearing him on Radio 4 medicine now. I wrote to Professor Bird asking
him about it,I seem not to have had a reply from mr Dowler, I may have
misspell his name if he is still with you can you tell me? On the radio
he said something of great interest which was about cataract surgery and
different kinds of lens, he was advising patients who wanted to keep
near vision not to have Silicone lenses and my interest of course was
after the Cataract and the silicone implants I was never able to read
again with the near to centre slot of retina in left eye the day before
the surgery I was reading point 14 print Mr Dowler was saying have
acrylic lens if you need to have near vision as a priority,please can
you see that letter and letme know which are the earliest notes you have
and photos. However the detail would need to be read by a Doctor with
knowledge about Retinal surgery and front of eye mr John Bell was not
willing to do a lens exchange some years ago but now he said he would,so
he may have taken training in performing victrectomy I think John Dart
doesn't undertake victrectomy one last thing the reader at adept hhad a
brave stab at pseudo Fakir actually I think the word bilateral is in
front of it. I typed pseudo in my Difine a wordOcr and Fakir and was
somewhat astonished at the results. dorothy surgery and I in the light
of John Bell's offer I felt the need to have a good look over my past
