Hi Steve and Mostafa,
I've tried both of Steve's suggestions and have installed earlier versions of
Jaws with no problem. I've even uninstalled all previous versions of Jaws and
tried then installing Version 18 but with no luck. I then had to reinstall
Version 17 - this all worked properly.
I've also tried installing from both the suppliedCD and from the internet
download - all with the same results.
I spoke to Sight & Sound and they suggested disabling the anti virus software
and making sure that all Windows updates had been installed - again no luck.
Apart from this, they had nothing else to suggest which means I'm no further
down the road. It's all very frustrating but I just haven't had time to spend
any longer on the issue.
Hopefully someone might know of a few other suggestions of things to try.
Jamie

Hi Mostafa,
Are you using an account with admin privileges? You need to be in order to
install JAWS. One way to find out is to open the Start menu and search for
Change User, then choose Change User Accovunt Control settings. If you're
prompted to enter an admin username and password, then you're not using an
account with admin privileges. If you get no such prompt, then the account
y,ou're in is OK.
A second possibility is the download is corrupt. Rename or delete the
downloaded file, then download it again and try to install once more.
If that doesn't solve it, I'd talk to your JAWS supplier. They ought to be able
to get some diagnositics from your computer that might help them come up with a
solution.
e
Steve

Subject: [jaws-uk] Experiencing error message during installation process
Hello everyone, I am attempting to install Jaws 18, December built on a 64 Bit
machine. In the middle of the installation process, I get the
following:
Please wait
Please wait while your system is configured for JAWS.
Installing vcredist.
And then, the installation says the following:
Please wait
Please wait while your system is configured for JAWS.
Installing vcredist64
Please wait
Please wait while your system is configured for JAWS.
Installing UninstallUtilities.
Finally, the installation process interrupts with the following error message:
JAWS Setup Package Error
The JAWS setup package could not install the required component RuntimeJAWS.
The process will now exit.
I never encountered this error before. Therefore, I couldn't figure out what is
wrong.
Jaws experts, your top tips please, thanks.
Mostafa
