Good Morning Marie,

have you tried to clear the cash and also do a disk defrag, and also clean
up the hard disk.

If you would like some help, I can give you a little help, so please don't
hesitate to contact me and I will do my best to assist.

Regards

Done it, as you say, no ill effect so far, keeping my fingers firmly
crossed.
Anything else that should be taken away that way to speed things up a bit?
I have 512mb of RAM so things should be ok but the system is very sluggish
and the sound gets quieter when I open an application or connect to my ISP
or download my mail.
Sometimes the system won't shut down, sometimes it locks up and the desktop
list disappears, where can I find what causes these problems? I've tried to
look in the logs but can't understand much about what it says.
Have installed Spybot, but don't seem to be able to fix the problems it
finds.
Norton reports a clean system. A little help would be appreciated as there
is not much round here and the specialists, apart from costing money for
their services, don't really want to touch my system as I work in English.

Cheers now,

Marie
