Where and how do you clear the cache, I looked in Internet explorer tools menu but didn't find that option there.

Thanks for your help.

Done it, as you say, no ill effect so far, keeping my fingers firmly crossed. Anything else that should be taken away that way to speed things up a
bit?
I have 512mb of RAM so things should be ok but the system is very
sluggish
and the sound gets quieter when I open an application or connect to my
ISP
or download my mail.
Sometimes the system won't shut down, sometimes it locks up and the
desktop
list disappears, where can I find what causes these problems? I've
tried
to
look in the logs but can't understand much about what it says.
Have installed Spybot, but don't seem to be able to fix the problems
it
finds.
Norton reports a clean system. A little help would be appreciated as
there
is not much round here and the specialists, apart from costing money
for
their services, don't really want to touch my system as I work in
English.

Cheers now,

Marie

startup tab.

CTHelper is a program that comes with the software installed for a
Creative Labs soundcard.

In some cases, CTHelper can actually cause problems by hogging too
much
memory.

I don't know about your particular system and do not want to issue a
general recommendation, but on my machine, i for years have always
disabled cthelper without any ill effects.
