  Hi Joan.

  first of all, use jaws help it is your friend and will stop you having to 
send relatively straight forward questions to this list.  No one minds 
answering them but this is the kind of task that you probably want to get done 
straight away.

  press insert j and you will end up in the jaws window.  press alt h and go to 
help topics and press enter.  either find what you want in the tree view or 
press control tab to switch to Index tab where you can type in the first few 
letters of the thing you want to find.

  To answer your question, in the help menu you will also find the start up 
wizard.  go to this and typing echo among other useful settings can be changed 
there.
