[jaws-uk] Re: Backing up files

Hi Phil

Thanks for your tip on how to back up files. It sounded straight forward, but I
have to confess that I have since got someone else to back them up for me...

However I am now puzzled as to how to access attachments from the CD. I have
(perhaps wrongly) chosen for the files to open in Word 2000 but now cannot find
any sign of the attachments at all.

Am I doing something incorrectly, or will the attachments "reappear" if the
files are transferred back to Outlook Express at a later date?

Since this is not really a specific JAWS issue, please feel free to email me
off list.

Thanks.

Lynda

  Hello Linda,

It is easy to do when you know how, you can save all e-mail's into a text doc
which saves on the size to put on a floppy, and after you can go into the doc
and put bookmarks to find certain e-mails, if this is what you want to do read
on.

First create a named folder on your floppy, "you need the folder to make it
work" then go into your Outlook Express or where ever your emails are, then alt
F +T, arrow to "Export to a file" press enter, arrow to "Tab Separated Values
(Windows)" press enter, arrow to the folder were your emails are stored press
enter, Tab to Browse press enter, find and select the new folder on floppy, tab
to File name give it a name, tab to Save as type make sure it says "Tab
Separated Values (Windows)" tab to OK press enter, tab to Next press enter
twice and wait.

All your messages can then be read on one long text doc.

Hope it is helpful to you.

    Hi

My computer has been crashing quite a lot lately - probably flagging from
the heat like me! So I decided the time had come to get around to backing up
all the files I've carefully squirreled away in Outlook Express folders...

However, it seems this task is not as easy as I thought and I'm a bit
stuck. I've tried copying the files in the usual way and pasting them straight
onto a floppy disk from Windows Explorer, and also tried moving the files to
there as one does between folders in Outlook Express. i.e. by picking up the
files using shift and control plus v...

But still no luck, so can anyone out there tell me how to do it please?

    Thanks in advance.
