Sue,
I had this happen to me several weeks ago but, in my case it was
during a scan of the hard drives that a virus was detected. I moved to
chest and, since running Avast on several subsequent occasions no
virus has been detected so Avast has obviously neutralised whatever
nasty had infected my system.
Incidentally, are you running a paid for edition? I have the free
version and I'm not sure that this has the facility to detect viruses
in e-mails.
Regards,
Kevin
