hope you solved this Ken? I do have windows updates on auto, after seeing
someone mention use Ms Updates rather than windows I tried both,I brought
my laptop into same room as Desktop,, latter goes via a Wireless connection
I did know I was already fully updated. However my laptop began to make a
very loud noise, laptop was using Ms suggestion. I could hear what sounded
like loud tapping on the screen like sheets of hail hitting the Toshiba
window, all I can think of is Ms having nothing more to offer makes a noise
in case the user has fallen asleep at the wheel it scared me at the time
never heard such a strange din, am used to the Tic Toc of Jaws but
tap-dancing!

All

Noting Dorothy's suggestion that I check the update history. Can someone
give some steps to find this? I have browsed the Control Panel and nothing
obvious presented itself.

Also still interested to know how I set the controls to prompt for
installation as well as downloading these updates. I remember when IE 7
came out, anyone with automatic download set ended up with a version of IE
that did not work with the then current version of Jaws, so I have always
preferred to know what is being installed, and when.

Many thanks,

Ken
