Thanks, Will. As I can't do much worse with the stupid questions than
asking if Jaws for Windows will run on another OS, I'll ask would I have to
be running a Mac to use this programme?

JAWS relies on some very specific things in Windows. Examples, are the
Windows messaging sub-system, the GDI, and message hooks. Additionally, all
the JAWS files are compiled to native Windows code.
So, there's no way you'd get JAWS to run on another operating system. The
good news is, that Apple are bringing out a free screen reader with their
next release of OSx, and Gnome, which is a GUI for *nix, has Gnopernicus.
The apple screen reader will be free with the O/S, although the O/S will
cost, but both Gnome and Gnopernicus are free and open source.
