It's worth noting that the specified 480Mb/s is a theoretical maximum 
that is rarely (ever?) achieved. This can be easily demonstrated by 
attempting to transfer the same file over both USB2 and Firewire from 
a PC or Mac: The Firewire (rated 400Mb/s) will be faster, unless there 
is something very wrong with your setup.

As regards 'saturating' the connection, do you ever do that with a 
normal LAN transfer? I'd expect the bottlenecks to be comparable to 
any other network backup system.
