If the Linux kernel on the system is compiled with kernel framebuffer
support it should be no problem to have VNC work for you.

I have got a NSLU2 myself with a Debian kernel and RAMdisc image flashed
to it's flashrom and a 80GB USB disk fitted with all the applications
installed that will work on such a device with 32MB RAM.

There is a tip as well to make the "slug" work twice as fast as it
does in it's original condition (266MHz clock instead of 133MHz)
by removing one SMD resistor...
