Many times when Windows was thrashing 7 bells out of the disc because it
ran out of physical memory space to play with.

Oh, sorry you meant how many times had it happened on a decent operating
system - in which case the response times of the HP K460 have been a touch
poor when we had more than 250 users running queries at once but on RISC
OS systems I don't think disc access times have been the major factor.
