Until somebody uses excessive force, or a knock on the connector 
breaks out the plastic barrier. After that plugging in either way 
round is possible, and in the latter case, shorts the 5volt supply in 
the process. (In the case of some laptops the supply isn't current 
limited, so power to the CPU is removed, resulting in a cold-start 
when the connector is removed again.)
