Under the Sale of Goods Act I would suggest it isn't 'fit for purpose' so
get a refund.

IIRC my 'Made in China' optical rodent cost the king's ransom of eight
quid. A mouse is something everyone must use pretty much all the time; to
have one that doesn't work perfectly can only add to your stress.
