Don't try to open the menu for the 'Start Search From' writable icon. The
procedure to find HDs and generate the entries for that menu seems to be
incompatible with the Iyonix [1].

Instead, enter the starting point manually or Shift-drag the directory to
be searched into the icon.

That should get it running. I haven't tried it extensively having got
into the habit of using Steve Fryatt's excellent Locate. However first
impressions suggest that the Fast search option is *very fast*.

[1] It's very easy to forget that the menu mustn't be opened. The
'Find' program is BASIC and it's quite easy to suppress the generation
of that menu:

Find the line:

FOR l%=0 TO inst%-1

It's line 11760 in my copy. Immediately before it, insert the line:

inst%=1

There's probably a more subtle way to do it, but that seems to work OK.

Evan.
