[iyonix-support] USB to serial converter driver available?

Since a while I am having trouble with my car. Meanwhile I am knowing
the motor management is defect and I am trying to repair it. Parallel to this
I bought a new motor management unit. It arrived last week and seems to work
fine. However it must be synchronized with the anti theft unit to work longer
than a couple of seconds. I could try to put the car to a garage but this
would be difficulty because the old motor management isn't working properly
and the new one will only work for some seconds. And yes the car is Rover
component based and the according protocol is not really documented so the
garage might get trouble with the synchronisation. I had the car already at
a garage as the problem occurred but I wasn't satisfied with their results.
It had a lot to do with trial and error playing around and I had to pay for
it. So after three weeks without success I decided to play myself and put the
car back to home. The next real Rover garage is meanwhile 50KM far away. Too
far for a faulty machine.

Regarding all aspects I came to the conclusion that it would make sense to
buy me an OBD2-Interface and use it from my Iyonix. I am thinking of buying
an OBD-DIAG 4000 adapter, which provides OBD access even for new cars on one
side and an USB connection on the other side. USB connection is provided by
fitting an USB to serial convert chip within the interface because the OBD
chip uses a serial interface.

So I am assuming that the device will identify itself as or similar as an USB
to serial Interface. The ODB chip itself is said to behave like a modem using
AT-commands establishing a connection to the required component of the car.
After the conenction has been established the interface will behave like a
terminal. You are sending some data and the component replies wth some
output.

Therefore my question:

Is there a driver for the Castle USB stack for USB to serial interfaces?

Did anyone got an USB-Modem working on the Iyonix? How are such USB-devices
identifying theirselves?

In best case (even this would not be Iyonix related) someone has already done
something similar under RISC OS and can give me some hints.

Many thanks for any hints in advance.
