Now I am satisfied with my new 512 MB RAM.

The question remains what is the reason for this silly behaviour?
Are there electrical (chip drivers to weak?) or speed cycle
problems? Was this the reason for the 1GB RAM problems too?

The obvious answer is the RAM is not suitable for the Iyonix. While it happens to work now in that configuration, it isn't a good idea to rely on it.

The 80321 chip is very specific about the 1gig ram it will correctly support.. there is only 1 configuration.. this is not the 'common' 1g config in the pc marketplace.

as for 512 or less .. many more configs are supported, BUT by no means all currently on the marketplace.

As a general rule.. if a ram (type) shows the expected behaviour.. be happy, if not.. then it is unsuitable

hope this helps
