I don't know, but I would assume it's possibly a feature of Symbian 9.1 or
UIQ 3 rather than the phone itself. There are two modes - "phone" and
"file". In phone mode it requires software to 'sync' the phone books/data
etc with the PC suite, whereas in "file" mode it acts as an external USB
drive, so appears on the iconbar and you can drag and drop files to the
phone memory card.

Works very well, for copying data and/or ringtones etc.
