It would be useful.  I have had someone ask me about this (mistakenly
believing me to be knowldedgeable!) and all I could offer was to make
the box (background) colour match the pinboard backdrop as closely as
possible -- which is what I did myself.

If there were a simple tick box in a "Misc config" plugin, that I feel
would make a lot of folk very happy.
