"zImage" is the compressed kernel (IMHO version 2.4.27).

i dont suppose i could get a copy of that ? the iyonix.com site has 2.4.21
while the linuxhints.info site has 2.4.22 ... not sure what version comes in
the dinstall.zip, but the only one i could find that wasnt a 404:
http://www.linuxhints.info/armlinux/riscpc/dinstall.zip

Sorry, it's 2.4.22 and if you want that it's still available as
zImage-19022004 from chocky.org. Just follow the link to chocky.org
on Castle's site.

i wonder if i'm suffering from the video blank issue alluded to on the
linuxhints.info site (as i'm running 5.11 and i dont have any way to
downgrade to older roms since i dont have them) ... i played with !dRun
and !LinLoad a bit and the last output i get on my machine is the stuff from
linload, then the monitor shuts off ...

Don't really know about that. It's not there with the 2.4.22 kernel.

Maybe I should take the time to write a raw tutorial on how to install
Debian ARM Linux on an Iyonix computer...

OK here goes:
Get a new HD e.g. 120 GB
Format that using the RISC OS tool !HForm so that it will be recognised
by RISC OS. Make the size of the RISC OS partition, say 4GB in size.
(RISC OS does not know about partitions)
Put all the stuff you need for installation on that new RISC OS partition
Partitions for Linux will be generated during the install process.
You need to install the package "acorn-fdisk" to do that job for you.
To install the base system, you need to direct the installer to Castle's
site (just edit the host entry but leave the path intact).

As you seem to be an experienced Linux user otherwise, I will not get
on your nerves about the proceedings of the usual installation. You
will (hopefully) know about that. :-)

Good luck !
