i think this is one of the pieces i'm missing ... the disc hasnt been 
repartitioned at all yet as i assumed this would be done during the initial 
Linux steps ... i'll just keep things simple and install a separate 100gig 
ide disc to run Linux on ...

my monitor is a 17" Trinitron ... it can do larger than 1600x1200@75Hz without 
a problem ... atm it runs RiscOS at 1600x1200@60Hz (havent quite figured out 
how to get a new Monitor Type for my monitor)
