Hi Mike,

Well you could try contacting Castle to see if they have any old
support discs.

I did get Linux up and running with the discs and using a network
install but that was at least 3 years ago.

John Peachy did an excellent set of articles for Archive a while
back, which I helped John with testing, so you could try contacting Jim
Nagel who is now the editor and see if you can get the magazines they
came in or purchase a copy of Archive on disc and get a whole wealth
of information about RISC OS.

Just some points to watch out for which might help:

1 - Normal Debain install notes can be found
athttp://www.uk.debian.org/releases/stable/arm/

2 - Make sure you are point to the correct linux partition in the
!Drun !Run file. This is just after the zImage and looks like
root=/dev/hdc4

3 - If using the normal debain sources then most likely the
XFree86Config file is not the correct one and you'll have to install
in manually. Use !IscaFS application to check if it is correct.

4 - If you don't get the splash screen then this could be because the
graphics driver assumes a monitor capable of 1280x1024@75Hz and you
should change it to suit your monitor.

5 - It also assumes a graphics card in a particular location so again
that should be altered to suit

6 - ARMLinux doesn't work on RISC OS 5.12 or 5.13 due to it requiring
a 2.6 kernal as a result of the changes to the RISC OS NVidia driver

7 - When you get to the point of of Installing Kernal and Drivers then
make sure you edit the URL Hostname to be preceded by www.iyonix.com
and leave the rest the same.

Hope this helps

Doug
