OK.

Well you need to get at least three archives (tar.gz and zip) from the
Iyonix web site: XFree86-Iyonix.tgz, dinstall.zip and one of the zImage
files.

"dinstall.zip" contains the installer, as the name suggests.
"XFree86-Iyonix.tgz" holds the patched versions of some X11 drivers and
an XF86config file suitable for the Iyonix.
"zImage" is the compressed kernel (IMHO version 2.4.27).

Armed with these files you should in principle be able to install Debian
Linux on the Iyonix.

sorry to drag this out ... i had fetched the dinstall.zip archive and burned
the iso "debian-30r6-arm-binary-1.iso" and popped it into the drive ... but
when i run either of the programs in the dinstall.zip (!dRun or !dInstall),
the screen switches to a black console with some text (and maybe Tux?), and
then the monitor turns off ... i figured i was missing something else ?

You will not get anywhere without zImage. Have you got that ?

Have you got more than 512MB RAM in your machine, I wonder ?

It may seem silly to you, but it is true: The zImage kernel will not run
without a patched version of the loader (one part of !LinLoader) if you
have got more than 512MB RAM !
