Hmm. ISTR being told that if a (floppy) disc is dismounted, then a
second click on dismount will 1) mount the disc in order to pass a
command to it and then 2) perform a dismount.
A simple test would be a third click on dismount. If you still get the
flashes, chances are this is what is happening.
Some form of notification when a disc is successfully dismounted is
the norm on all other OSes. I'd suggest greying out the icon on the
iconbar. I know my ZIP drive did this.
