I had the same problem, but with a USB memory stick. I now click on 
'dismount' twice, with a few seconds gap between, when removing it, 
which seems to solve things. One of my 'sticks' has an 'activity LED' 
on it, and it clearly shows some activity after the second click, so 
something is wrong somewhere with the implementation software on the 
Iyo! I guess it's the same problem with floppies, but I haven't used 
one in years!
