Hi Chris,
If you are not using LBA, under an ATA disk, you will not be able to access
more than 7,8 GB of it, no matter the real capacity. The limiting factor is
the number of cylinders, heads and sectors per track that can be addressed
(1024 / 255 / 63).
By using LBA, this limit can be by-passed and you can use the full capacity of
the disk. So, if your normally not doubling the capacity, just using the total
one.
Best regards,
Gonzalo Meza

Question 2: My hard-drive supports 'LBA' and, by selecting this in
DataSafe's formatter, I was able to almost double its capacity from 8
Gb to 15 Gb. What is LBA and is there a downside to using it to
increase a drive's capacity in this way?
Thanks,
Chris.
