[iyonix-support] Problem with customer's Iyonix

Hi all,

I've got a bit of an obscure problem with a customer's Iyonix (RISC OS
5.13) in that it can't connect to the internet (or even router).

I've talked them through a couple of issues over the phone, so it's now
booting up correctly and getting to the normal desktop. They load StrongED
automatically so that's their default editor.

I asked them to press CTRL-f12 to open a task window and what happens is
that they get a window (with, from what I can tell, no window furniture
other than a title bar - no close icon or scroll bars), which says "Task
window" in the title bar, but is *not* from StrongED (no toolbar and
non-standard sounding).

In this window they get a fatal internal error/address exception type error
and a number which sounds to me as if it's coming from the 'Utility
module'. They then get the * prompt, but the machine then crashes. You
can't move the window, escape out of it, or click in any other windows or
even click on icons on the iconbar. The only exit seems to be to press the
reset button and reboot.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what's possibly causing this? as I'm a bit
baffled by it and they're too far away (Sheffield) to do an onsite visit.

TIA.
Paul
