Hi all
Further to my email below, it seems that the sound system
on my Iyonix plays sounds at a different sampling rate
than the sampling rate of the sample in question when
using SamplEd.
Thus, if the sample was taken at 22050 kHz and the
playing sample rate is 44100 kHz, the SamplEd will play
at double speed because 44100 is double 22050. If the
sample rate of the sample is 10989 kHz, it will play
just over four times fast. And so on.
The problem can be circumvented by setting the sample
rate at which the computer plays to the same sampling
rate as the sampling rate of the sample. This can be
achieved using !Bazsound (see www.filebase.org.uk) and
selecting Configure > DMA handler > and choosing a
matching rate.
Actually, I think this may be a problem with the Digital
Renderer (DRenderer) module that SamplEd uses. DigitalCD,
for example, does not use this module (I think) and plays
all sample files of all compatible formats at the correct
speed.
I would be interested to hear of your experiences.
The next problem I have is why SamplEd sometimes
complains:
"Error. Bad format field in SF.INFO struct when openning
[sic] a RAW file for read"
when loading an MP3 file. (That is "MP3 file", not "RAW
file".)
Thoughts, anyone?
Thanks
Christopher.
