[iyonix-support] Re: Pen drive problems after upgrading

This posting led me to try my 0.5GB pendrive, and I discovered some odd
problems.

1. Copied an ArtWorks file (the 4.02 Boot diagram, 854,136 bytes) from
HD to pendrive. It all worked fine.

2. I dismounted the pendrive (but did not remove the pendrive),
and then clicked on the pendrive icon again. The file loaded into
ArtWorks (under Aemulor) without any problems.

3. Dismounted the pendrive and removed it. Then re-inserted it, waited
for the icon to appear, opened the disc and double-clicked the file.
ArtWorks reported an "Abort on data transfer" and quit. NB - the file
on the pendrive showed exactly the same size as the original.

This is repeatable.

Just for information, I have also had corruptions of JPEG files (written by a digital camera) on an SD card when read back into a 5.11 Iyonix via a "Laser" brander 4 way card reader. This only occurred when I did a direct load (as in this case) or a Filer copy, but only intermittently. Using PipeCopy seems to always do the right thing. I thought it might be the USB/SCSI subsystem not doing any CRC checking, so errors on the wire were allowed to go unrecognised: but that's just theory.

(Just to be clear- the files were corrupted in transit. The files on the SD card were always correct, and could be read correctly if you used PipeCopy or a foreign system- i.e. the camera.)

Just another data point.
