Yes!  In my case, all the hardware mods HAD been done, and I experienced
freezes while writing disc files which were alleviated by rmkill
DMAManager (with some speed penalty). Often hit me when Pluto saved one
of its files (around 10MB) which was nasty. Using a Digital meter to
check voltages showed nothing untoward.

I do have a disc test program which repeatedly writes files of a given
size and see how long it lasts! email me if you want to try it.

A new PSU (from CJE) cured it properly - no problems since with
DMAmanager enabled. JB & I concluded that the higher disc speeds stressed
the PSU more.
