Yesterday my Iyonix brought up a message that it could not connect to the
internet so, after all the messages about power supplies, I decided to replace
the PSU with a known good one that I had removed from a Windows PC when I
upgraded the graphics requiring a larger PSU.
When I first pressed the "On" button everything worked until I took my finger
off it. As I need a finger on each hand to type, I put the Iyonix PSU back
which booted but with the internet problem still present. Being an optimist, I
retried the "new" PSU but with the same result, so the original went back in.
Now the computer will not boot :-(
When switching on I can hear the HDDs powering up the HDD light comes on. The
light goes out as the FDD light gives a short flash complete with click. The
screen stays blank but the monitor shows that it is receiving a valid signal
after which nothing happens.
What could I have disturbed?
Alan
