Maybe if we could get away from this kind of attitude, things would be

Because genuine questions often get lost in the noise, particularly on
mailing lists where innocent bystanders inadvertently start new threads by
replying to existing messages.

This doesn't disadvantage the "big shots" as you put it -- it
disadvantages the "mere users" whose questions may be overlooked by the
person who knows the answer.  No?

Well, a quick check of Messenger tells me I'm subscribed to fifty-odd RISC
OS related lists or newsgroups.  The posts to Iyonix Support may not be
that overwhelming, but it's only one of many...

There's a reason why the convention of many groups, each with a
well-defined topic, originated.
