[iyonix-support] New user

Hi,

I'm a new Iyonix user (X300 and RO 5.13). Please could someone help me
to iron out a few problems which have defeated me?

!Configure: The Discs, Fonts, Keyboard, Mouse and Windows sections
complain 'Cannot find default CMOS file' when the 'Default' button is
clicked.

Reset button: Some software crashes can't be cleared with the 'Reset'
button on the front of the computer. A shutdown occurs and a reboot
seems to start, but then the computer hangs and has to be switched
off/on at the mains. The 'On' button doesn't do anything either.

'Blue' keyboard function button (under right Shift): Plain/Ctrl
presses result in error messages 'File Help_On/Help_Off not found'.

Shift-switch on: This no longer bypasses the normal startup procedure.
It used to do so and the keyboard is still plugged into the same rear
USB socket, so what's happened?

32bit software: Where can I find replacements for the following 26bit
versions?
  WritableUtils (Richard van der Hoff)
    - allows Ctrl-S and Ctrl-D to work in writable icons
  Attacher (John Allen)
    - decodes MIME and Base64 email attachments
  ImageFS (Alternative Publishing)
    - !
FlashCar (Reuben Thomas + Tim Tyler)
    - I've written a short BASIC prog to do the same thing, but
their module was neater - and the Zap version is 26bit.

Scanner: I have a USB-Parallel cable and 32bit Twain software - will
something like ParaUSB (Sprow) or a ParallelDeviceDriver module allow
me to use my Epson GT5000 scanner?

Many thanks,
Chris Bell.
