They are both right. We provided the softload (and I'm saying this for
probably the fifth time here) as a convenience and very much a last-minute
addition to the stuff we've provided.

You can run the softload extremely easily by double-clicking the go514 file.
This allows you to try it for a session and check that your machine is
stable. Then, if you're happy, you can reflash your machine using the same
flash programming tool that Castle have always released in past updates.

This, I am sure you will agree, is a much better situation that you've ever
had before - with only having the option to flash update.

However, as is par for the course, the first reaction when people get
something new is to think of all the stuff it _doesn't_ do and ask why not.
I'll tell you why not: because we have very limited resources and very
limited time.

If people want a softload tool which is integrated into their boot sequence,
keep asking someone competent at that sort of thing might well put it
together in under an hour - as you say, ROL have been doing it for years and
before that, we did it in Acorn with prototype RISC OS 4 builds. And it's
certainly a good idea, I'm not questioning that.

As for ROOL's efforts, we're catching up on all the real problems that
people have so don't expect us to be catering to feature creep just yet. :)

Thanks,

Steve
