This to to thank you all who have responded and to announce that I now
have the monitor (which is a Hanns G 281, the same as John's) working
perfectly at 1920 x 1200 on my Iyonix as well as on my PC.
The MDF from Paul's site that John sent me was almost right but left a
few pixels missing off the right-hand edge. Changing sync_pol:1 to
sync_pol:0 has cured that. Presumably the monitor is clever enough to
cope with whatever sync polarities it receives, but the polarity is
making a slight difference to the timing.
The lower resolution modes in the MDF may have been left over from
older MDFs and don't seem to work, so I've deleted them from my copy.
With a bit of trial and error I've created a new mode at 1440 x 900,
chosen as exactly three quarters with the idea of minimising aliasing.
I chose this monitor because it provides not only a high resolution
but a large physical size (nominal 28 inch, actual diagonal about
27.5), so things that are a fixed number of pixels in size aren't too
small for my taste. It seems very reasonably priced for such a large
one so could become popular. Anyway I'm now very happy with it.
Should I send my revised MDF to Paul or elsewhere?
Richard
