That sounds exactly like the problem I'm getting, except that it usually
says "Buffer not known" in an error box, but there's nothing getting to
keyboard and machine has completely stiffed. It's still getting power
because the Num Lock LED is still on, but pressing caps lock doesn't toggle
the caps lock LED, and even an auto rescan of the KVM doesn't re-establish
connection. Like you, the only way out is reset.

And like you, sometimes it can go for days without problem, then it can
happen 5 times in one day. Most odd.
