Need a little mote detail I think. Do we assume the KVM has USB input 
and output for mouse and keyboard? Is there just one USB on the 
computer side, providing both mouse and keyboard connection?

If so, it's the same setup as I use here. It *just works*(TM) with 
Iyonix (rear USB in use, haven't tried side), Laptop (Clevo), Compaq 
Pc running WindowsXP and Linux, RPC with Unipod.

It also has 3 other USB ports which switch between the computers as 
the keyboard, mouse and video do. However care is needed doing that - 
don't use it with any device which needs to be dismounted before 
disconnecting, as switching will disconnect.

The KVM is a Rextron 4-port, bought from CSE.
