Hello All, My Iyonix will not get to system beep without hitting Escape. I have left it sitting there for 10 mins or more and it will not boot up. The main hard drive has been replaced, it was giving disc error 13: and when verified showed a number of defects. The new drive is a Western digital 7200rpm 40GB. I appear to have been able to copy most things across without problems. A couple of things needed downloading and installing again. The new drive has not altered the behaviour of the machine. If Escape is hit it will boot up but with Iconbar module unplugged (there is now an RMreinit obey file in the boot sequence). I have also been getting an increasing incidence of mouse and keyboard locking the machine or just not working. Early Iyonix with firmware and hardware mods, RO5.11 512MB 3 hard drives and the original CDRW, 2nd video card and Geminus 1.31. There is also a PCTV card installed but at the moment is not in use. The other 2 hard drives (one somewhat older and one much newer) verify OK. When installing the 2nd video card the small hardware patch fitted during the UDMA upgrade was removed. I don't know if this is significant but it ran for a few months without obvious problems. What does the Iyonix do before system beep? I presume it checks various bits of hardware? What is likely to cause a hang like this?
